Idioms.

Idioms are sayings we use frequently. We use them to explain what we saying or to make what we are saying more interesting. However, we don’t mean literally what we saying.

To face the music.
To let the cat out of the bag.
To pay through a nose.
To smell a rat.
To get into hot water.
To be a wet blanket.
To play second fiddle.
To hit below the belt.
A feather in one’s cap.

To have a bee in one’s bonnet.
To flog a dead horse.
To sit on the fence.
To make both ends meets.
To paddle one’s own canoe.
To live from hand to mouth.
To bite the dust.
To burn the candle at both ends.
To take forty winks.

To show a clean pair of heels.
To strike while the iron is hot.
To show the white feather.
To take the bull by the horns.
To make a mountain out of a molehill.
To give someone the cold shoulder.
To be a dog in the manger.
To throw cold water on something.
To have a bone to pick with someone.
