Collective Nouns and Noun Groups.
A collective noun is a name given to a group of person or things.
In this sentence group is a collective noun.
For example:  A big group of children came to the party.

This team won the competition.
All of my class came to the birthday party.
Our family will bring some food.
A crowd of people came to watch the races.
The audience listened as the choir song.

A swarm of bees.
A herd of cattle.
A litter of puppies.
A school of fish.
A gang of thieves.
A flock of sheep.
A tribe of indians.
A bunch of bananas.
A class of children.

Playing games at a party.
When you have a crowd at a party it is good to play games. First choose two teams and then the fun can start.
You can have a concert, too, with a group of actors, a choir and an audience.
Another idea is to dress up as a tribe of Indians, a gang of thieves or a band of pirates.

A bunch of  grapes.
A collection of stamps.
A bundle of sticks.
A pack of cards.
A convoy of ships.
A nest of ants.
A team of players.
An orchestra of musicians.

Write sentences containing these collective nouns.

A crowd came to see a rugby game.
Fifth Harmony came to perform in New Zealand.
There was a herd of cattle eating grass.
A netball team won a game.
Flock means a number of birds of one kind feeding, resting, or travelling together.

The Apostrophe of Possession.

If something is owned,  an apostrophe is needed to show ownership.
We need to know where to place the apostrophe.
Here is the rule.  When something is owned,  place the apostrophe after the last  letter of the owner.

  3. The horses mane
  4. The apples core
  5. The cats tails
  6. Seven candles flame
  7. A ships mast
  8. Two mothers babies
  9. Jeremys jumper
  10. The brown familys house

Charlies party
I went to Charlies party. His two sisters friends came too.  I went in my dads car.  There were all kinds of things to eat.  Charlies sisters joined in the games and we had a great time.  I hope I am invited to Charlies party next year.

Some nouns form their plurals without adding s,  such as man - men when they own something the rule still applies.  Place the apostrophe after the last letter of the owner.

Abstract Nouns.

An abstract noun is the name of something which is in your mind,  although you cannot see it.

Fun is an abstract noun.

Happiness,  joy,  delight,  enjoyment, glee,  pleasure
Unhappiness,  sadness,  misery,  distress,  agony,   suffering,  sorrow,  grief

My sentences.
Fifth Harmony fans were so delight that they were performing.  They were so joy that they sold out so fast.  They had so much enjoyment when it was done.

We had sadness when we had to do work.   We had misery that we had to do more work.  The kids were so agony to Miss Teleso.
