Summer Learning Journey 

Activity 1 - A house or a home -  Compare the Wharepuni to your own home. What are two similarities and two difference between a wharepuni and your home!!

Activity 2 - The rules of engagement - Draw a picture of yourself doing your dream job.

Here is my dream job. In the near future I hope to be one of the best lawyers out there.

Activity 3 - Favourite Meal - On your blog, post a picture of your favourite meal. Be sure to tell us what it is and why it is your favourite. You could also include the recipe if you have it so that we can all try it!

My favourite meal is steak with rice and mushroom sauce. This is my favourite meal because it was one of my first meals ever that I have ever eaten.

The ingredients are salt, pepper, beef steak, olive oil, chopped onions, rice, mushroom, cream and garlic.....

Directions

1. Cut cube steaks into serving size portions.
2. Season to taste with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
3. Lightly coat steaks with flour.
4. Prepare brown gravy in small saucepan according to package directions.
5. Reserve.
6. Heat oil in large heavy skillet.
7. Add onions and saute about 1 min.
8. Add steak and brown on both sides.
9. Add mushroom soup.
10. Add water to soup can (about 1/2 can) and swish to remove soup.
11. Add to skillet with meat mixture.
12. Add brown gravy mixture and stir to blend.
13. Bring to boil, cover, lower heat and simmer about 45 mins or until meat is tender and you can cut it with edge of fork.
14. Add mushrooms, stir to heat and serve over rice.
15. TO PREPARE RICE: Rinse rice in strainer.
16. Place rice in saucepan, add broth.
17. Liquid should reach first knuckle on your finger.
18. Bring to boil, stir, cover, lower heat to simmer and cook about 15 mins.
19. Fluff with fork.

Summer Learning Journey - Waka Ama

Activity - On your blog tell us whether you would like to be in a Waka Ama race one day. Why or why not?

In my opinion I wouldn't like to take part in Waka Ama because it is very intense and it looks really hard to do. If I actually did the training I would maybe take part in the Waka Ama. It does look fun but at the same time it looks very hard.

Hey, there I was just telling you about my safe voyage to New Zealand. At first I was sad to be leaving and nervous . There were some bumpy waves but we have managed to get pass them. Now we have reached my new home and even though I was sad to be leaving I know that I will make some new memories here as well...

Summer Learning Journey  Activity 1 - Maui and the giant fish

Activity - Write down three facts that you learned about this interesting man..

Number 1 - One thing that I found very interesting about Maui was that he would never give up even though his brother would always put him down.

Number 2 -  The second thing that I found interesting  about Maui was that he would always try improve himself.

Number 3 - The last fact that I found very interesting about Maui in this story was that at the end of everything he still loves his brothers even though they 

When reading Maui and the giant fish, it was inspiring me to not give up and just not try and impress people. This is a great book for children my age because it does catch others eye.

 

3D Shapes

Today we were on a site about 3D shapes. You could write letters and names about what you were making. It had some shapes that I had never seen before which was the fun part about this website. I had designed many things and it had turned out fantastic. This website was very fun to play on and to learn on at the same time.

Parachute in the Tree

Today we got the chance to make, design and test out our parachutes that we had made. It was very exciting designing the parachutes and when Rangi ( my partner ) and I finally finished our parachute we tested it out. When we tested the parachute it ended up in this tree all the way on the other side. WOW! I was really shocked how far it went. The parachute is still there and here is a picture of where it is.

Prototec - 281117

Today for maths I was on a website called Prototec. On this website I did stage 7 and got the fraction of 40/40 and a percentage of 100%. Over the year I have grown on Prototec and I have nailed stage 7. When I do Prototec again I will do stage 8 and try and nail that stage as well.
